The coalition says it wants to help train and develop 1 million people by 2035. For plumbing, HVAC and electrical shops, the practical move is to check local workforce programs now and build clear paths from apprentice to lead tech before assuming the new coalition will deliver hires.
A later BLS release cut the August nonfarm payroll gain by 29,000 and revised July lower too. The August unemployment rate remained 4.1%, but the supplied data still do not show whether hiring got easier for small trade employers.
The current federal table lowers the August specialty-trade estimate from the figure previously reported here and lists a preliminary September increase, with nonresidential gains offset by residential losses in September.
